We are seeking an experienced VP of Engineering that will drive the development and implementation of engineering best practices, tools, and frameworks. Your role is pivotal in aligning the engineering team's efforts with the broader goals set by Practice Leads, and in fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will work closely with various departments to ensure our engineering capability is at the forefront of technological innovation and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Strategic Direction: Champion the development and implementation of engineering best practices, shaping the engineering department's strategic direction. Act as a visionary leader, aligning engineering efforts with the broader goals set by Practice Leads and company objectives.
  • Team Development & Management: Direct and enhance the skills and knowledge of the engineering team, ensuring continuous professional growth and capability enhancement.
  • Recruitment: Oversee and streamline the hiring process for engineering roles in collaboration with HR, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational growth strategies.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage the engineering department's budget, making strategic decisions on investments in technology, tools, and personnel development. Optimize resource allocation across projects, ensuring an effective mix of skills and capacities to meet client needs and project demands.
  • Project Oversight & Quality: Supervise major engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, client expectations, and are delivered on time and within budget. Implement and monitor key performance indicators, adjusting strategies and processes to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Cross-department Collaboration: Facilitate strong collaboration between engineering, sales, and other departments, ensuring seamless integration of strategies and workflows. Maintain clear, effective communication across all levels of the organization, fostering a culture of transparency and inclusiveness.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating innovative solutions into the engineering practice. Encourage and lead initiatives for technological advancement, driving the company's competitive edge in the market.
  • Business Development: Actively engage in pre-sales activities with Practice Leads and Partners, providing technical expertise and support in client acquisition and retention efforts.
  • Community Building: Cultivate a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the engineering team. Promote an environment that values resilience, adaptability, and teamwork, driving overall team performance and job satisfaction.

Must have qualifications

  • Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ years of experience in senior engineering leadership roles with a demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing, agile engineering teams. Proven expertise in strategic planning and execution, aligning team efforts with business objectives.
  • Technical Experience: 10+ years of practical software engineering experience with knowledge in all aspects of software development. This includes front-end development, back-end development, devops practices, containerization and orchestration, software architecture, quality assurance, and monitoring and performance optimization.
  • Application Scaling: Proven experience in scaling applications for high performance and efficiency in diverse environments.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Demonstrated ability in managing budgets and making strategic investment decisions, and experience in optimizing resource allocation in engineering departments.
  • Client Relationship Management: Experience in managing client relationships and expectations, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and long-term partnership development.
  • Exceptional Communication Ability: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, vital for articulating technical concepts and making presentations.

Nice to have qualifications

  • Advanced Degree or Certifications: An advanced degree in engineering or management, or relevant professional certifications.
  • Digital Transformation Expertise: Experience in leading or contributing significantly to digital transformation projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: A history of working closely with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and customer service, to enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Change Management Expertise: Experience in leading through change, demonstrating an ability to steer teams and projects through evolving business landscapes.

Compensation

$180,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
